UPDATE: The woman whose body was recovered from the bayou behind the Arc of Acadiana Northwest center this morning is identified as 53-year old Pamela Owens. The results of an autopsy conducted today indicated she died from drowning. Foul play is not suspected in her death.

A woman’s body was found behind a Bossier City disability facility this morning.

According to the Bossier City Police Department, the body of a 53-year-old woman was found around 7 a.m. behind The Arc of Acadiana facility, 5401 Shed Road in a bayou about 100 yards behind the center.

Staff members tell police they noticed the woman missing from her residence at the center at about 4:45 a.m. and began searching the grounds for her. They located the woman’s body in the bayou about an hour later at which time police and fire personnel were notified.

The woman’s name is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. The investigation by Bossier City police and the Bossier Parish coroner remains ongoing.
