Boil advisory issued for Central Bossier Water System

A boil advisory has been issued for the Central Bossier Water System in Bossier Parish has been issued and residents on that system are encouraged to boil water for consumption until further notice.BOHSEP logo

Areas included in the advisory are from Butler Hill Rd. to La. Hwy. 160, to 7 Pines Rd. to the Cycle Plant Rd., according to Gene Barattini, assistant director of the Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

Barattini said the water system has experienced a maintenance issue that has since been repaired, but the advisory is being implemented as a precautionary measure. Officials recommend residents voluntarily boil tap water for at least one minute before consumption.

Residents were initially informed of the advisory via Bossier Parish’s First Call system, Barattini said.

“We want to stress this is a boil advisory, not a boil order,” Barattini pointed out. “It is only a precautionary measure. Users on the system will be notified by the First Call system and through local media once the advisory is lifted.”
