The Bossier Bearkats advanced to the Class 3A quarterfinals with a thrilling 48-47 overtime win over Parkview Baptist of Baton Rouge Wednesday night at Bossier.
The No. 2 seed Bearkats (25-7) will travel to Lake Charles to face No. 10 seed St. Louis for a spot in the Top 28. St. Louis (21-9) upset No. 7 seed Patterson 61-60 Tuesdasy night.
Elsewhere, the Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing Lions fell to No. 5 Christian Life 65-56 in a Class 1A second round game in Baton Rouge. New Tech finished the season 19-9. Christian Life also knocked the Lions out in the second round last year.
Playing through an illness, senior guard Devonte Hall led Bossier with 21 points. Hall hit two free throws with with 12.4 seconds left in overtime. The Eagles still had a chance to win, but missed badly inside thanks to some good defense by Malik Dunn.
Dunn and a Parkview player tied and the jump ball went to Bossier. The Bearkats got the ball inbounds and the clock ran out.
Kentrell Hardy added 13 points for Bossier. Reed Vial led Parkview, which finished 16-12, with 21 points. Anthony Stove, who hit a 3-pointer with 1 second left to send the game into overtime, added 12.
