State of Education celebrates local strengths, provides a national perspective on education standings

The Bossier Chamber of Commerce is highlighting advancements in the K-12 education system at the inaugural State of Education event to be held on Thursday, September 17, 8 a.m., at the Bossier Parish School for Technology for Innovative Learning (BPSTIL).  Bossier-Chamber2

This breakfast event will highlight education in Bossier Parish and provide a national perspective on the progress being made in the public school system.  Speakers include Cheryl Oldham, U.S. Chamber Vice President of Education Policy, D.C. Machen, Bossier Parish Schools Superintendent.

A strong education system is crucial for developing and sustaining a quality workforce for the 21st Century and beyond.  We have seen education strategies in the U.S. transform and align to meet the needs of growing economies. This event will show how our local school system is responding to the to the need for qualified workers by working to close skill gaps and provide relevant training to meet the needs of high demand career fields.

Additionally, event attendees will have the first look of the BPSTIL facility before the public ribbon cutting.  Tours will be offered following the event presentation.  Tickets are $25 which includes a full breakfast spread prepared by students in the Culinary Arts program at BPSTIL.
