Bossier City Council Recognizes Proud Community Leaders on “Black American Leadership Recognition Day”

During its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, the Bossier City Council recognized proud community leaders on “Black American Leadership Recognition Day.”

Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler and City Councilman Jeffrey Darby presented a proclamation of recognition to Mr. Glenn D. Stroud and Ms. Yvonne M. Bartley.

Mr. Glenn D. Stroud and Ms. Yvonne M. Bartley were acknowledged for their leadership, contributions, and activism in our community and Bossier City.

This recognition and proclamation were authored by Councilman Jeffrey Darby, who represents District 2.

Councilman Darby expressed his appreciation to his fellow council members for their support of the recognitions, stating that he believes “it is important and appropriate to recognize and honor those African American leaders who positively impact our society, especially our local community.”

During the February 27 meeting, the Bossier City Council also approved the following:

*Adoption of an ordinance authorizing Mayor Thomas H. Chandler to execute a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the City of Bossier City and the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.

*Adoption of an ordinance to amend the 2023 State and Federal Grants Fund and Riverboat Gaming Trust Fund budgets in accordance with the Local Government Budget Act.

*Adoption of an ordinance approving Conditional Use Approval for the sale of high- and low-content alcohol for off-premises consumption at a retail store, Family Dollar, located at 2334 Barksdale Boulevard, Bossier City, Louisiana.

*Adoption of an ordinance approving Conditional Use Approval for a proposed private animal rescue shelter, Port City Cat Rescue, located at 3002 Shed Road, Bossier City, Louisiana.
