The Bossier City Lions Club recognized academic achievement and community involvement Thursday, May 7, by awarding scholarships to six graduating seniors from across Bossier Parish.

During the club’s weekly luncheon meeting, each student received a $1,500 scholarship to assist with their continued education following high school graduation.

The 2026 scholarship recipients included Savannah Murphy of Airline High School, Zander Wheeless of Benton High School, Juan Carlos Rivera Jr. of Bossier High School, Gisele Pitts of Haughton High School, Myleigh Hinds of Parkway High School and Briana Newton of Plain Dealing High School.

Lions Club members praised the students for their hard work, leadership and dedication both inside and outside the classroom. Officials said the annual scholarships are part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and investing in the future of the community.

Family members, school representatives and club members applauded the students as they were recognized during the ceremony, celebrating not only their academic accomplishments but also the bright futures ahead of them.

The scholarship presentation has become a longstanding tradition for the Lions Club, which continues to support local youth through educational initiatives and community service projects throughout the year.

Club leaders encouraged the recipients to continue striving for excellence as they begin the next chapter of their educational journeys, reminding them that their achievements reflect the strength and promise of the next generation in Bossier City and surrounding communities.
