Members of the Bossier City Lions Club welcomed a special guest during their regular weekly meeting Thursday, Feb. 26, as Laura Williams with Shriners Children’s shared an update on the hospital’s mission and services.
Williams spoke about the nonprofit health system’s commitment to providing specialized pediatric care to children with orthopedic conditions, burn injuries, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. She also outlined how local families can access care and the referral process available to physicians and community members.
Throughout her presentation, Williams highlighted patient success stories and emphasized the long-standing partnership between Shriners and civic organizations like the Lions Club. She noted that community outreach and awareness play a critical role in ensuring families know help is available.
Club members asked questions about eligibility requirements, transportation assistance and volunteer opportunities. Williams encouraged attendees to share information about Shriners’ services with families who may benefit.
The Bossier City Lions Club meets weekly to hear from guest speakers and discuss ongoing service projects in the community. Leaders said hosting organizations such as Shriners helps members stay informed about resources available to residents across Northwest Louisiana.
Thursday’s meeting concluded with a brief question-and-answer session and a reminder of upcoming service initiatives planned by the club this spring.
