As Independence Day festivities approach, the Bossier City Police Department is extending warm wishes for a safe and joyful Fourth of July to all residents and their families. In anticipation of the holiday, officials have also issued important reminders regarding fireworks use and fire safety to help ensure a safe celebration for the entire community.
Fireworks will be permitted within Bossier City limits beginning at 10:00 a.m. on July 1 and continuing through 10:00 p.m. on July 5. However, the discharge of fireworks is strictly prohibited between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. throughout the holiday period.
To minimize the risk of injury and fire hazards, the Bossier City Police Department recommends the following safety precautions:
- Always have a bucket of water or hose on hand when using fireworks.
- Never aim or throw fireworks at people, animals, homes, or other structures.
- Children should never handle fireworks without direct adult supervision.
- Use extra caution during dry conditions, as fireworks can easily ignite fires.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and neighbors at all times.
Authorities stress that fireworks safety is a shared responsibility and encourage residents to report any unsafe or unlawful behavior during the holiday.
The Bossier City Police Department hopes these guidelines help everyone enjoy a festive and accident-free Independence Day.
