Bossier City Police received a call at 11:11 a.m. of a person struck by at train. Units responded and arrived on the scene at Barksdale Blvd. near Violet street. There was a victim found on the on the east side of the railroad tracks that had been fatally struck by the train. The victim has not been identified but is described as a black male possibly in his late 20’s. Witnesses reported that the man was walking on the tracks and the train was approaching the man from his back side. The train blew it’s horn continuously in an attempt to warn and alert the victim. The man never left off the track and was struck by the train and was knocked off the track into an area adjacent to the track. There were headphones found in the proximity of the accident but it is not confirmed that the victim was wearing them at the time of the accident. The intersection of Barksdale Blvd. and Violet was closed while the railway inspectors completed their investigation. This is an unfortunate incident and the Bossier City Police Dept. wants to remind all citizens to be careful when approaching railways and always exercised caution and safety.
