Congratulations to the graduating Class of 2024!!! Way to go class… you did it. Frank Zappa said that “a mind is like a parachute, it doesn’t work if it’s not open.” Harvey Mckay said..  “A great accomplishment shouldn’t be the end of the road, just the starting point for the next leap forward.” To our graduating Seniors we say work hard and prepare for the next big leap forward after high school, but as you move forward do so with an open mind. Bossier City graduations will take place on Saturday May 11th at the Brookshire’s Grocery  Arena. Plain Dealing High School will have  their graduation on the 10th at the Plain Dealing High School Gymnasium. ‘

Bossier Schools will graduate as follows: Parkway @ 9:00 a.m. Bossier High @ 10:30 a.m. Benton @ 12:00 Haughton @ 2:00 and Airline @ 4:00 p.m.

Speaking of Bossier Parish Schools, this years iii3 Art Expo was a Great success and was truly an “Explosion” of art, drama and creative talent. The Expo was held at the Bossier Civic Center and if you missed it you really missed a display of hard work and accomplishments in the area of the Arts for Bossier students..

Put it on your calendar and make sure you attend next year. KTAL T.V. will host the “Salute the Badge Banquet” on Tuesday May 7th at Bally’s Casino Ballroom. This banquet is to recognize those members of Law Enforcement in our region that showed bravery as they faced great danger to serve and protect those in our communities. This is an invitation event for the families of those that will be honored.

Mayor Tommy Chandler, the Bossier City Council and the entire Public Safety Community both Fire and Police extends a heartfelt “Thank You” to the Citizens of Bossier City for your vote of support for the Public Safety Tax Renewal on April 27th. Mayor Chandler said that “we are very Grateful to our Citizens for their vote of support it will allow us to continue to  provide the resources needed to continue to keep our City and Citizens safe.”

Congratulations to the Bossier City “Employee of the Month” … Ms. Kalanda Johnson. Ms. Johnson is a PCO II – Police Communications Officer and has been employed for more than 23 years. PCO Johnson has earned the respect of her co-workers and is said to have the ability to “make a bad day better.” Ms. Johnson is recognized as always being willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to help the team be successful. Bossier City is very proud and say’s “Congratulations” to Ms. Kalanda Johnson.
