Sports Fans mark your calendars for September 15th.. this is “D” Day in our area. “D” stands for Dallas as the Cowboys takes on the New Orleans Saints. This game is always the most anticipated, the most watched, the most talked about, the most lied about and the most bragged about game of the season for many local fans. As a matter of fact you will hear both Cowboys and Saints fans say…. “I don’t care how many other games we win.. just as long as we whip those ______________.” This year’s game will be at AT&T Stadium in Arlington home of the Cowboys.

The “Spotlight” is just getting you prepared because there will be a lot of “trash talking” going on between now and then.

This same weekend the L.S.U. Tigers will be in Columbia South Carolina taking on the Game Cocks, this should be a good game also. I’ve provided this update on sports to ask the oft asked question…. “Are you ready for some football?”

The month of August has been a very good month for Bossier City, politically speaking. This month we’ve had the Bossier Chamber of Commerce host it’s Public Policy Series that has afforded our community open dialog with our local Legislative Reps including our Senators and State Representatives.

In addition to our local Delegation Bossier City welcomed Governor Jeff Landry to our City where he gave his State of the State address as well as attending the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the Jimmie Davis Bridge project. In addition to having our Governor in town Bossier City also welcomed U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy on the 27th of the month at the Horseshoe Casino.

Mayor Tommy Chandler said “Northwest La. is always grateful when our State Government Leaders take the time to visit and listen to the concerns of our community.”  Lieutenant Nungesser is scheduled to visit our area this month as well.

Bossier Civic Center hosted the second Career Fair of this year sponsored by KSLA Channel 12. This Job Fair is just one more way that Channel 12 is committed to reaching out to our community and making a difference.

Continue to read the “Spotlight” and in the upcoming issue we will give you information and details about this year’s “National Night Out” if your neighborhood has not signed up for a party there’s still time.

National Night Out is the time that our communities set aside to greet each other and to plan and stand against crime.

On September 11th Bossier City in partnership with “Keep Bossier Beautiful” will host it’s annual memorial service at 9:00 in front of the Police Station. Mayor Chandler said that this is Bossier City’s commitment to “Never Forget” the atrocities of that fateful day when our Nation and our Freedom came under attack.

We hope that everyone is refreshed and well rested after celebrating Labor Day and is now ready to get back to the grind.

Also in next week’s issue we will give you the remaining events for the year scheduled at our Bossier City Civic Center. Until then you are up to date.

Bossier City Spotlight is a weekly article that gives updates and insights to the most current events at City Hall and in Bossier City.
