As Mayor Tommy Chandler so often says…. “ It’s a GREAT DAY in the GREAT CITY of Bossier City.”

On Wednesday the South Bossier Luncheon Group had a good number of interested and concerned citizens from South Bossier attend the monthly meeting. The speaker for the luncheon was Kevin Nolten President of the Cyber Innovation Center. His presentation was very interesting and informative. Kevin grew up in South Bossier and he reminded us of many reasons that we have to be proud of Bossier City.

The Bossier City Water and Utilities Department is working hard to get the word out that the billing system for Bossier City water is “changing for the better.” Bossier City Utility billing has partnered with Tyler Payments. Beginning August 6, 2024 Bossier City will offer customers online, autopay and over the phone payment options. This change means that each customer will need to re-register their online account, payment information and re-enroll for paperless billing and or autopay. First Billing Recurring Payments that are currently set up will end on July 26, 2024. This new change will require just a bit of patience on the part of our Citizens, but once it is complete the process will be quicker, easier and better for us all. Citizens can go to www.bossiercity.org or call (318)741-8757.

There is not a new Sheriff in town … (we already have a Great one) but however there is a new grocery store in town and the name is ALDI. ALDI had it’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on Thursday and Mayor Chandler was on hand to welcome them. Mayor Chandler said that he was proud to Welcome ALDI to Bossier City and it’s always exciting when major companies brings business, jobs and opportunities to our Community. Over 250 people waited in line for the opening of the store.

Friday of this week our nation and community will recognize and celebrate Juneteenth. There will be a number of activities throughout our region in honor of this day. This is a reminder and an opportunity to set aside a day to celebrate Freedom and Liberation. It also reminds us of how Blessed we are to all live in a free nation.

The Bossier City Charter Commission held a meeting on Monday June 10th. This meeting lasted well into the night and ended sometime after 9:00. As you may know by now the Commission voted and the decision was made to place the topic of Term Limits before the citizens and allow it to be voted on. Term limits has been viewed as a hot topic and now it appears that the Citizens voices will be heard on this issue.

It appears that the NBA Finals are all but over, Boston has taken a 3-0 lead over Dallas in the Championship series which means that by the time you read this there is a very good chance that the Celtics will be the NBA World Champions.

Get ready Bossier City and be reminded that the Little League World Series is coming to Bossier City. What an honor it is to host this national tournament in our city.

Everyone have a great week, keep reading and we will see you next week on the “Spotlight.”
