Bossier City’s Jerry Juneau was inducted into the Dixie Boys Baseball Hall of Fame in a July ceremony in Pineville.
Juneau has served the organization at the district, state and national level. Locally, he was very involved with the community baseball program in Bossier City.
Through Juneau’s active support, the Dixie organization has conducted district, state and World Series events in Bossier City. The 2014 Dixie Boys and Jr. Boys World Series were held at Tinsley Park.
On the district level, Juneau provided strong leadership as a district director from 1993-97. In his role as a national board member of Dixie Boys Baseball, Louisiana Dixie Boys Baseball experienced growth in the number of franchised participating in the program. Juneau remains involved as an appointed Louisiana assistant state director.
“Jerry Juneau has made a last impact on our program,” Dixie Boys Basketball Commissioner/CEO J. Sandy Jones said. “His strong leadership enabled the state of Louisiana to remain a leader in our Dixie Boys Baseball organization. Jerry has always been very helpful and was very involved with the many successful tournaments hosted by Bossier City.
Jones said one of Juneau’s biggest accomplishments was the creation of a tournament program for Junior Dixie Boys Baseball.
“The 13-year-old program granted many young people the opportunity to participate in tournament play,” Jones said. “For all of his accomplishments, we are very pleased to name Jerry Juneau as a member of our Class of 2015 Hall of Fame.”
