Bossier hires Joanna Crowson as new head softball coach

Bossier High has hired Joanna Crowson as head softball coach, according to principal David Thrash.

Joanna Crowson-Graduate Assistant Softball CoachCrowson was the head coach at Beaumont (Texas) West Brook High from 2005-2007. She served as an assistant coach at Parkway in the 2007-2008 school year and at Southwood from 2008-2012.

She was also a volunteer assistant to Mark Montgomery when he was the head coach at Centenary College in 2009-10 and at Louisiana Tech last year. Crowson taught chemistry and physical science at Jonesboro-Hodge High School the last school year.

“She is a great hire for our program,” Thrash said.

Crowson is a graduate of Louisiana College.

At West Brook, Crowson took over a team that had three coaches in the previous three seasons. She had to rebuild the school’s softball field after it was destroyed by hurricanes. She led the team to its first district championship in four years and a No. 6 state ranking in Texas Class 5A.
