LifeShare Blood Centers and KTBS3 have joined together again to host the MASH BASH Blood Drive, Wed., July 10 and Thurs., July 11. The goal for the drive is 900 blood donations. The annual blood drive will take place at locations in Bossier City, Shreveport, Minden, and Texarkana.

The event is open to the public and participating blood donors will receive a limited edition MASH BASH t-shirt.

“Twenty-six years ago the annual MASH BASH Blood Drive began to help ensure the stability of the local blood supply during July, and it continues in 2013. During the summer months, we often see the blood supply drop to a critical level, requiring an emergency call for donors. The volunteer donors that give during MASH BASH help to make sure that doesn’t happen in July,” says Tina Hooper, spokesperson for LifeShare Blood Centers.

Each year 4.5 million Americans need blood to save their life or improve their health. The blood used for these medical needs can only come from volunteer blood donors. Donors must be at least 16 years old to give blood and there is no maximum age limit.

Donors should bring a list of medications, eat a good meal and be well hydrated prior to donating. The goal can only be accomplished by asking the community to roll up their sleeves and giving blood. For more information on blood donation, visit www.lifeshare.org.
