On January 18, 2016 at 2:02 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Swan Lake Road just north of Interstate 220 that claimed the life of a Shreveport man.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2016 Chevrolet Van driven by 70 -year-old William Bryant of Shreveport was traveling north on Swan Lake Road, when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle exited the roadway and crashed through a wooden privacy fence before coming to a stop.
Bryant did not survive the crash and was later pronounced dead at Willis Knighton Hospital in Bossier.
Impairment is not suspected in this crash, but a toxicology sample was obtained from Bryant and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers want to take this time to remind motorists that fatigued drivers and drivers experiencing unexpected medical problems are three times more likely to be involved in a crash. By taking preventative measures such as stopping for rest or seeking medical attention for an unexpected illness can drastically decrease your chances of being involved in a crash.
