With heavy rains moving into the area, the Bossier Parish Police Jury highway department will have a crew standing by tonight at the parish maintenance barn in case of emergency.

“Our people will be on hand all night just in case something happens,” said parish administrator Bill Altimus.

Altimus said residents may pick up sandbags if needed at the maintenance barn at 410 Mayfield St. in Benton from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. In case of emergency, residents may call the highway department at 965-3752.

Sandbags are available for Bossier City residents at the public service complex, 3223 Old Shed Rd. from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
