The Bossier Parish Police Jury approved a series of infrastructure improvements during its regular meeting on April 15, advancing road repairs across the parish and authorizing upgrades to the water system serving the Rocky Mount area.
Jurors unanimously voted to move forward with a road overlay project designed to improve driving conditions on several rural roadways. Following a public bid opening earlier in the month, the contract was awarded to Benton and Brown LLC.
The project will add a new layer of asphalt to Linton Road, Parks Road, Koran–Doyline Road, and Johnson–Koran Road. Officials noted the overlay process is intended to extend the lifespan of existing roadways, smooth deteriorated surfaces, and enhance overall safety for motorists without requiring full reconstruction.
Because the project spans multiple long stretches of roadway, it was handled through the parish’s formal public bidding process to ensure transparency and cost efficiency.
In additional action, the Police Jury approved an agreement with the State of Louisiana to fund improvements to the East Central Bossier Water System, which serves residents in and around Rocky Mount.
The upgrades are part of the state’s Community Water Enrichment Fund, which provides financial support for water system improvements in rural communities. Planned work includes enhancements at multiple system sites, with a key component being the replacement of an aging water storage tank in the Rocky Mount area.
Parish officials emphasized the importance of water infrastructure, noting that storage tanks are essential for maintaining consistent water pressure and ensuring reliable service, particularly during periods of high demand or emergencies.
The combined efforts reflect the Police Jury’s ongoing focus on maintaining and improving essential services for residents, particularly in rural parts of the parish. Both the road overlay project and water system upgrades are expected to address immediate infrastructure needs while supporting long-term growth and reliability.
