The Bossier Retired Teachers Association held their 12th annual luncheon on Aug. 6 with a total of 80 people present.

Door prizes were provided by 44 local businesses. The 39-inch flat screen T.V. donated by Bossier Federal Credit was raffled off and although Nancy Huguley. held the winning ticket, we all benefited from the proceeds raised from the ticket sales.

Dr. Randy Harper, pastor of Bellaire Baptist Church who hosted the meeting, blessed the food that Good Eats catered and we were royally entertained by Elvis Presley, Billy Graham, Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr., all very close acquaintances of Bro. Chad Mills, pastor of Airline Baptist Church.

The club also remembered Mr. Arthur Lee who recently passed away. Mr. Lee was the Corresponding Secretary for BRTA for many years and was a tremendous asset to our organization. A donation will be donated in his memory. The club wishes to thank Mr. Lee for investing in children: you have touched tomorrow.

The slate of officers for the 2013-14 year are as follows: President, Pam Renz, Vice-President, Glynda Ernesto, Recording Secretary, Judy Covington, Corresponding Secretary, Betty Nelson, Treasurer, Barbara Haywood, and Scrapbook editor, Gayle Walker.

Their next meeting will be held on October 1 at 2 p.m. in the History Center of the Bossier Parish Library on Beckett Street. Glen Benton, Bossier Parish Policy Jury member, will be the guest speaker with updates about Bossier parish, and answering questions. Any former employee of the Bossier Parish School system is welcome to attend.
