Three students received exciting news today when Bossier Schools Superintendent D.C. Machen, Jr. made a personal visit to their campus to congratulate them. They are Bossier Schools’ 2016 Parish Students of the Year.

Representing Bossier Parish Schools as the Elementary Student of the Year is fifth grader Emma Maynor. Emma attends Princeton Elementary where she is actively involved in school and community activities. She is a Pride of Princeton Student Ambassador, cheerleader, champion softball player, school spelling bee winner and is in Bossier Schools’ Talented Arts Program in voice and drama/theatre.

The parish Middle School Student of the Year is eighth grader Bhavani Tivakaran, who attends Greenacres Middles School. Bhavani is on the Student Council and in 4-H and the Suzuki Chamber Orchestra. She is also on the MathCounts Team for the district and in the Talented Arts Program, is the school spelling bee winner and volunteers with the India Association of Shreveport/Bossier.

Julia Lefort is Bossier Schools’ High School Parish Student of the Year. The Benton High School senior is the Student Body Vice President, an FCA team leader and Gold Jacket Student Ambassador, she is in the AIM and SMART programs, a Tennis State Competition participant and volunteers with Teen Court and numerous other organizations.

All three students also maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Bossier Schools applauds each of these accomplished young ladies and is proud to have them represent the parish in the Regional Student of the Year competition next month.
