Bossier Schools continue to grow, exceeding projections and again marking record enrollment across the parish for the 2014-15 school year.
The final student count taken this week indicated a total enrollment of 22,201 students. Last year at this time there were 21,994 enrolled; an increase of 207 children attending Bossier Schools this year. Bossier Schools Superintendent D.C. Machen announced the enrollment numbers at Thursday night’s Bossier Parish School Board meeting.
“Our continued growth sends a clear message that families recognize the excellent foundation and educational opportunities offered at their neighborhood schools,” said Bossier Schools Superintendent D.C. Machen. He added, “Our educators are unparalleled as is the district’s commitment to continually improve children’s educational experience.”
Bossier Schools was also cited recently in a report by The Center for American Progress that compared student achievement versus spending. The district was ranked number one for maintaining the lowest cost per student yet the highest measure of achievement in the state.
The Department of Education also ranked Bossier Parish first in Louisiana for its number of highly effective teachers.
