Bossier Parish Schools Superintendent Mitch Downey held a press conference at the Bossier Instructional Center (BIC) on Wednesday, July 28, to give an overview of the school operational guidelines.

For the upcoming school year, Bossier Parish schools will not mandate the wearing of masks for the staff and students, they will be highly encouraged, however.

“We do think it is imprudent to wear masks indoors, but those will be a personal decision made by parents, not by the school system at this time. . . We feel like we would get better cooperation from parents and students if they had a choice,” Superintendent Downey explained.

However, masks will be required during the bus commute to and from school premises, with all buses running at 100% capacity.

School breakfast and lunches will be provided for free to all students regardless of household income.

These guidelines are tentative and subject to alterations at the release pertinent information.
