Bossier teams take part in scrimmage

Four Bossier Parish schools participated in the LHSAA/LHSOA Football Camp on Friday at Independence Stadium.

The event is mainly to benefit officials from around the state. About 300 are expected to attend. Attendance is mandatory for LHSAA officials every two years.

There were five scrimmage-type “games” with 15-minute halves. Airline faced Minden, Parkway took on North DeSoto and in an all-parish battle, Haughton played Benton.

Scores were: Airline 27, Minden 0; Parkway 14, North DeSoto 7; Benton 21, Haughton 14.

The other scrimmages pitted Captain Shreve and Northwood and Byrd and 2016 Class 5A runner-up West Monroe.

Parish teams will still have regular scrimmages Aug. 17 and 18. Those vary in length but can last as long as a regular game.

The annual Bossier Lions Club Jamboree is Aug. 25 at M.D. Ray Field at Airline Stadium. Season openers are Sept. 1.
