The Airline Vikings and Bossier Bearkats posted victories in boys high school basketball action Tuesday night.
Airline rallied from a 9-point second-half deficit to defeat the Crimson Tide 58-54 in overtime at Airline. Bossier downed Plain Dealing 48-27 at Bossier.
Elsewhere, Parkway fell to Booker T. Washington 66-53 at Parkway and Providence Classical Academy fell to Bethel Christian of Ruston 57-44.
At Airline, the Vikings led 21-18 at the half but went cold early in the third quarter and didn’t score their first basket until about the four-minute mark. The Crimson Tide took advantage with a 14-2 run and a 32-23 lead.
Zak Harper jumpstarted Airline with a 3-pointer and the Vikings chipped away at the lead. Jacob Guest hit a 3-pointer with just over two minutes to play to give Airline a 46-45 lead.
Minden’s Thomas Brown answered with a 3 of his own to put the Tide back on top by two. Trent Ivy scored inside to tie it with 1:20 left.
Both teams missed shots in the final 30 seconds with Airline’s bouncing off the front rim at the buzzer.
Guest knocked down two free throws early in overtime to give the Vikings the lead for good. Scott Jackson and Fred Lemons made three throws to give Airline a four-point cushion.
Minden scored its first basket in OT with just over two minutes to play to make it 52-50.
Jackson scored underneath to extend the lead back to four with 47 seconds left. Minden got within two again with 20.1 seconds left.
KJ Bilbo was fouled and made both free throws with 19.5 seconds left. After a Tide miss, Guest sank two free throws for a six-point lead.
Ivy scored 10 of his team-high 12 points in the fourth quarter. Harper added 11 and Guest had nine.
Zi Baker led Minden with 13 points. JJ Sneed scored 10 before fouling out with about two minutes to play in regulation.
Airline, which went 1-2 in the St. Amant tournament last week, improved to 3-4. Minden is also 3-4.
At Bossier, the Bearkats won their fifth straight game to raise their record to 5-2. Antonio Davis led Bossier with 15 points. Larry Robinson added 11 and Travis Manning nine.
Keldrick Carper led Plain Dealing (1-4) with 10.
At Parkway, Trey Webber and Robert McKnight scored 10 points each in the Panthers’ loss to BTW.
Will Lazenby scored 15 points in PCA’s hard-fought loss to Bethel Christian.
