Boys basketball: Bossier advances to semifinals of Ark. tournament

The Bossier Bearkats advanced to the semifinals of the Rumble on the Ridge boys basketball tournament with a 61-45 victory over the Jackson (Tenn.) South Side Hawks Thursday in Forrest City, Ark.

Chris Davenport led Bossier (1-1) with 15 points. Kentrell Hardy and Larry Robinson scored 11 each. Antonio Davis added 10.

South Side (4-1) won the Tennessee Class AA state championship last season, the first state title in school history.

Bossier (1-1) faces North Little Rock (Ark.), which defeated Arlington (Tenn.) 69-67 in double overtime in its first-round game, at 5 p.m. Friday.

North Little Rock is the two-time defending Arkansas Class 7A state champion. The school has won 12 state titles in its history.

North Little Rock’s KeVaughn Allen, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, is a Florida commitment. He was the state’s Gatorade Player or the Year last season, averaging 21 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
