Boys basketball: Bossier remains atop 1-3A standings

The Bossier Bearkats remained unbeaten in District 1-3A with a 64-40 victory over the Green Oaks Giants Friday night at Bossier.

The Bearkats improved to 20-7 overall and 7-0 in district with three games to play. The Bearkats visit Mansfield Tuesday with a showdown against North Webster looming Friday at Bossier.

North Webster squeaked past Booker T. Washington 78-77 To remain a game behind Bossier.

The Bearkats had little trouble against the Giants. Bossier led by five after the first quarter and then turned up the defensive pressure in the second. The result was a 14-5 run and a 29-14 halftime lead.

Devonte Hall and Darius Leary led Bossier with 15 points each. Lajerico Moss added 10 and Travis Manning nine.

Manning had three of the Bearkats’ eight 3-pointers. Leary and Moss had two each.

Elsewhere, Benton dropped a 77-32 decision to Fair Park, the second place team in District 1-4A. William Givens and Patrick Edmunds led Benton (3-18, 0-8) with eight points each.

Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing’s game against Cedar Creek in Ruston was postponed because of the winter weather. The game is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday night.

New Tech is 16-8 overall and 4-3 in district.
