The Parkway Panthers and Haughton Buccaneers picked up boys basketball victories Tuesday night.
Parkway downed Benton 84-54 at Parkway, and Haughton thrashed North DeSoto 83-62 on the road.
Elsewhere, the Bossier Bearkats and Airline Vikings lost. Bossier fell to Ouachita 77-52 in Monroe, and Airline lost to Huntington 74-54 at home.
Just about everyone who dressed out scored in Parkway’s victory. The Panthers’ quickness and size were too much for the Tigers to handle.
Parkway led just 13-8 after the first quarter. But in the second the Panthers’ full-court pressure defense began to take its toll. Parkway took its first double-digit lead, 26-16, on a dunk by Artavious Lynn with about four minutes left in the half.
Parkway (8-3) extended the lead to 38-25 by halftime and turned the game into a rout in the third quarter.
Lynn and Nekedrick Millsaps led Parkway with 12 points each. Niki Edwards added nine. Robert McKnight and William McKnight scored eight each as did Jared Collier.
William Givens led Benton with 18 points.
At North DeSoto, Haughton rolled to a 41-19 halftime lead and never looked back.
Kobe Byrge and Ja’marcia Banks led the Bucs with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Javonte Woodard added 14. Cody Lilly and Stephen Simmons helped the cause with eight points each.
At Monroe, Bossier trailed Ouachita 34-29 at the half, but the Class 5A Lions (10-1) extended the lead to 15 in the third quarter. The Bearkats (4-6) visit Plain Dealing Thursday night.
At Airline, the Vikings dropped to 5-6 with the loss.
