The Parkway Panthers and Plain Dealing Lions both lost first-round road games to higher seeds in the LHSAA boys basketball playoffs Friday night.
Parkway, the No. 28 seed, fell to No. 5 Ruston 66-38 in Class 5A. Plain Dealing, the No. 26 seed, lost to No. 7 Delhi 62-52 in Class 1A.
Parkway finished 21-11. The Panthers shared the District 1-5A title with Southwood. It was the school’s first district title in boys basketball since the 1999-2000 season.
The game was the final one for seniors Keondre Wudtee, Chrishaun Harris, Trey Webber, Bobby James, Tucker Wiggins and Elijah Steadman.
Ruston improved to 24-8. The Bearcats will visit No. 21 Central Lafourche, a 69-54 winner over No. 12 Southwood, in the second round.
Plain Dealing finished 13-15. The game was the last one for seniors Herbert McCauley, Max Washington, Thomas Gay and Frankie Kimble.
Delhi improved to 20-10.
