Boys soccer: Airline’s Rodriguez named Co-Overall MVP on All-District 1, Division I team


Airline junior Gabe Rodriguez has been named the co-Overall MVP on the All-District 1, Division I boys soccer team selected by the district’s coaches.

Rodriguez scored nine goals and dished out 20 assists from his midfield position.
He shared the honor with Chad Usry of district champion Captain Shreve.

Airline placed two other players on the first team — sophomore forward Gin Pau and senior midfielder Bryan Medrano.

Pau scored 30 goals and had five assists.

Parkway placed three players on the first team — senior forward Austin Coco, senior midfielder Joe Alvarado and sophomore defender Michael Raybine.

Alvarado scored 13 goals and had 15 assists. Coco scored 24 goals and had eight assists.

Parkway midfielder Bryce Culotta and Airline defender Chayton Ward made the second team.

Honorable mention selections from parish teams were Parkway’s Lorenzo Tunek, Erik Morales and Harrison Hopkins; Airline’s Michael Dickson and Mang Tung; and Haughton’s Alfonso Sifuentes and Nico Broadway.
