The following courses are just a few of BPCC’s non-credit courses for July 2013.

Quickbooks 2012 Intermediate: $149

7/9 – 7/11 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Tuesday, Thursday

This course is a continuation of Quickbooks 2012 for Beginners. We will take you through setting up payroll and taxes; creating estimates, invoices, sales receipts, payments and deposits, writing checks and paying employees. Ideal course for the small business owner or homeowner.

 

Adobe Photoshop Intermediate: $99

7/13 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Saturday

Adobe CS5 Photoshop Level 2 will enhance your ability to create accurate masks and image effects, retouch images, work with video files, automate repetitive tasks, and integrate with other Adobe applications.

 

Microsoft Word 2010, Intermediate: $99

7/15 – 7/22 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm Monday, Wednesday

Students will learn to work with graphics and diagrams, produce a mail merge, and to enhance the appearance of multi-page documents using styles and templates. This course is a natural progression from the Microsoft Word, Basic course.

 

Basic Computer Skills: $129

7/15 – 7/26 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday

This course is for the complete beginner with computers. Learn basic computer terminology and how to use the mouse, taskbar, menus, toolbars, and ‘Help’ facility. Explore the basics of word processing and graphics. Work with Windows 7 like a pro as you learn to manage and customize files and folders.

 

Microsoft Excel 2010, Basic: $99

7/16 – 7/23 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm Tuesday, Thursday

This introductory course to Microsoft Excel 2010 will teach students to create dynamic spreadsheets using formulas, functions and how to format spreadsheets to represent statistical data using impressive charts and graphs.

 

Credit Reports: Get the Score on Your Score: $29

7/17 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm Wednesday

This class will teach you everything you need to know to interpret, improve, and maintain your credit score. Learn what underwriters look for in making lending decisions. Know how to spot identity theft and how to correct reporting errors. It’s time for you to take charge of your number!

 

Paranormal Investigating 101: $79

7/18 -7/25 6:30 pm – 8:30 PM Thursday, Saturday

Ever want to explore the mysteries of the paranormal while having fun being spooked by the unknown? Here is your chance! Join “Louisiana Spirits” Paranormal Investigators as they take you through three sessions: a classroom presentation at BPCC for the first meeting from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., then a hands on investigation of a reportedly haunted location on Saturday from 7:30 – 11:30 p.m., and finally a third classroom meeting at BPCC from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. to discuss your findings. Participate in the actual investigation as much as you would like or just observe, you are not required to stay at the site the entire time. There will be indoor and outdoor areas to explore and places to stop and take a break if needed. Participants will need their own transportation.

 

Suburban Survivalist and Preparation: $29

7/23 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Tuesday

You don’t know what tomorrow will bring so why not prepare yourself for the unthinkable? Our culture is so accustomed to swiping our debit card for purchases, going to the grocery store if we need something for dinner, talking and texting on our cellphones, but what happens to our society when the electricity and technology are gone for some reason? There are no traffic lights to control traffic, no cell phone service to call your family, no ATMs in service to get cash. All the food in the grocery store will spoil… In the face of a disaster, it is better to plan than panic. Come learn how to plan and prepare for the unthinkable with this course. Learn about solar oven cooking, food storage and preparation, water purification and sanitation, bug out bags, etc.

 

Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, Basic: $99

7/24 – 7/31 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm Monday, Wednesday

Learn how to create impressive visual presentations by incorporating slides, charts, and animations using Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. Have an edge over the competition by learning how to use PowerPoint to produce professional notes and handouts. As a prerequisite, students will be expected to be familiar with the use of Windows, keyboard and mouse.

 

Microsoft Excel 2010, Intermediate: $99

7/25 – 8/1 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm Tuesday, Thursday

Learn to use more advanced spreadsheet features in Microsoft Excel 2010 Intermediate. Students will master complex functions such customizing workbooks, inserting hyperlinks, automating worksheet tasks using macros, enhanced charts and analyzing data.

 

Drawing with Pastels: $59

7/29 – 8/7 5:15 pm – 7:15 pm Monday, Wednesday

Not sure about pastels? Try them out in this fun class where everyone is welcome. Students will be introduced to several types of pastels and how to use them. Learn basic drawing skills using hard, soft, oil and pastel pencils.
