BPCCThe following courses are just a few of  the non-credit courses offered by Bossier Parish Community College for August 2014.  A complete listing of courses for August can be found online at www.bpcc.edu/continuingeducation.

Introduction to Lean Manufacturing Certificate: $699
8/18-8/28 – Monday-Friday –   12:00 PM- 5:00 PM
This course focuses on concepts and application of lean in manufacturing environment. Lean is a philosophy that shortens production time and improves the quality of a product between customer order and delivery by eliminating waste. The class will cover the purpose, principles, and the history of the lean concept and is designed for individuals in a variety of organizational settings who will be involved in implementing lean.

Have you ever dreamed of a vacation in Italy? Have you ever wanted to learn more about the cradle of European civilization? Come join veteran world traveler Brian O’Nuanain to learn all about Italia! Brian will lead a tour of Italy in 2015.

Basic Computer Skills: $119
8/19 -9/30 – Tuesday – 8:30 AM-11:00 AM
Learn basic computer terminology and how to use the mouse, taskbar, menus, toolbars, and ‘Help’ facility. Explore the basics of word processing and graphics. Work with Windows 7 like a pro as you learn to manage and customize files and folders.

Adobe Lightroom 5: $99

8/19 -9/3 – Tuesday, Wednesday – 6:30 PM- 9:00 PM
An in depth look at how to use Lightroom 5 in your photo imaging workflow. Topics include: advanced healing brush, radial gradient, upright tool, smart previews and more.

Microsoft Word 2013, Basic: $99
8/19 -8/28 – Tuesday, Thursday – 5:45 PM- 8:00 PM
Learn about the basic features of Word 2013 and use them to create, save and edit text, browse documents, use tables, adjust page layout, work with graphics, and print documents. Students will use the formatting facilities to enhance the presentation of documents produced to look professional with a minimum effort.

Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certificate: $249
8/23 – Saturday – 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM
Introduction to Six Sigma and fundamental quality tools. The course exposes Six Sigma team members to basic terminology, functions and activities that will enable them to effectively work on Six Sigma projects in an organization. The training provides students with the education they need to interact with Green Belts and Black Belts to assist with project work as needed. The material provides a comprehensive overview of Six Sigma processors and concepts of DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology and related analytical tools.

ACT® PREP Workshop: Reading: $59
8/23 – Saturday – 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM
Do you need some extra training in the Reading section of the ACT®? Let BPCC assist you in becoming familiar with the format and content so you can use your time efficiently and effectively. The Reading Test consists of four passages: Prose Fiction, Social Science, Humanities, and Natural Science. This workshop will teach you how to navigate the lengthy passages and answer the questions within the time allotted.

ACT® PREP Workshop: Math: $59
8/30 – Saturday – 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM
Do you need some extra training in the Math section of the ACT®? Let BPCC assist you in strengthening your fundamentals of middle school and high school math classes. This workshop will teach you how to grasp a broad array of topics, from simple topics like pre-algebra to more difficult ones such as trigonometry.   TI-83 Graphing Calculator will be required for class.
