Forty students have earned music scholarships to participate in Bossier Parish Community College’s Concert Band, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Jazz Ensemble this fall 2016 semester.
Music scholarships at BPCC are full-tuition scholarships. Students are not required to be music majors to earn a music scholarship. The bands and choir are also open to all students regardless of major.
“Our music scholarships are highly competitive,” said Dr. Michael Hart, Music Program Director. “Students may continue to receive their music scholarships for up to six semesters as long as they remain in good standing with the College.”
The students who were awarded a BPCC Choir scholarship are Joshua Bell, Alex Broussard, Cassidy Craven, Dillon Dixon, Esther Duty, Jamie Forgey, Christopher Guest, Gabrielle James, Kelly McFarland, Latisha Robinson, Taylor Robinson, Arthur Sloan, Alanna Stots, Tomiya Washington, Walton Weaver, and Talisha Wilcott.
The students who were awarded a BPCC music scholarship for instrumental music are Alissa Diaz, Robert Aucoin, Ben Butcher, Caleb Daniels, Kasey Dice, Serkan Duru, Ruth Elias, Emilee Hatt, Farelle Dulle, Willie Gosey, III, Cody Jones, Joshua Flattery, Shane Kaiser, Shelby Lauter, Hudson Lawrence, Matt Bynog, Daniella Miller, Kim Mosier, Aliyah Oliver, Jackson Powers, Chris Rambin, Cassidy Reed, Raenah Schneider, Christian Welch.
Students receiving music scholarships represent the following Louisiana high schools: Airline HS, Benton HS, Haughton HS, Parkway HS, C.E. Byrd HS, Captain Shreve HS, Caddo Magnet HS, Northwood HS, Southwood HS, Red River HS, Mansfield HS, Castor HS, Doyline HS, and Evangel HS, Bell Christian School, and Summerfield HS.
Out-of-state high schools represented include Northwestern HS in Illinois, Buckeye Valley HS, OH, and Woodgrove HS, VA.
BPCC’s Music Program offers an Associate of Arts in Performing Arts degree with a concentration in Music and a Certificate of Technical Studies in Music. Bossier Parish Community College is the only public college in the Shreveport/Bossier City area to offer a music major degree.
