Bossier Parish Community College will have a new sport to add to its list beginning this fall semester. The College is set to begin both men and women’s Cross Country programs.
Head coach for BPCC’s Cross Country program will be Frank Trammel. Trammel comes to BPCC with quite a resume in the sport. He is the 2015 National Coach of the Year for boys cross country from the National Federation of State High School Associations and holds 12 cross country state championships and five track and field state championships.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to start a cross country program at BPCC and looking forward to the opportunities we can provide to the local running community,” says Trammel. “It will take a lot of hard work, but I’m looking forward to being part of an already outstanding institution and athletic program.”
BPCC Athletic Director John Rennie looks forward to adding the new sport to BPCC’s athletic mix.
“We are especially excited to start cross country at Bossier Parish Community College and to have a coach of Frank’s stature start the program for us,” says Rennie. “Frank has a great passion for running and most importantly for student-athletes that is vital to a program’s success. He brings with him a vision to build upon the success he has experienced at the high school level.”
The BPCC Cross Country programs will compete in the NJCAA Division III. The addition of men’s and women’s cross country brings the total number of sports offered at BPCC to six. BPCC already offers men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball.
