Amanda Nordberg has been named head softball coach at Bossier Parish Community College, the school announced Monday in a press release.
Nordberg comes to BPCC from Centenary College where she has been the head softball coach since January 2014. Prior to Centenary, she served as an assistant softball coach at BPCC during the 2013 season.
“I am extremely excited to be named the next head softball coach at Bossier Parish Community College,” Nordberg said. “My goal is to build a winning program with the focus being on athletic and academic success for each athlete and to help prepare the students for the next phase of life.
“My experience as a player and coach over the past 19 years has made it obvious to me that winning both off and on the field is necessary for true success. I plan to work with our players to improve their skills and their character with hopes that many of them will be able to continue their education and their softball careers at a four-year college of their choice.”
Athletic director John Rennie is ready to have Nordberg on board to steer the softball program at BPCC.
“Amanda is enthusiastic about not only growing softball at BPCC but also assisting in the continued growth of our athletic program overall,” Rennie said. “I am confident the transition from Coach Ashley Grisham, who did an outstanding job leading our program for 17 seasons, to Coach Nordberg will be a successful transition.”
The BPCC Lady Cavs compete in NJCAA Division III.
