Bossier Parish Community College has been ranked #1 as a 2016-2017 Best Online Colleges in the Louisiana community college category, according to Affordable Colleges Online (AC), an informational resource for online learning and college affordability.
BPCC scored a 92.59 overall, with 18 degrees or certificates available to earn online.
“An increased number of high quality distance learning courses, certificates, and degree programs is a strategic priority for Bossier Parish Community College,” said BPCC Chancellor Dr. Rick Bateman, Jr. “We know that this is key to bringing more of Louisiana’s working adults into the training we offer… training that leads to high-wage, high-demand, family-sustaining employment.”
Under the ranking methodology, AC uses independent data provided by IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) created by the National Center of Education Statistics to help determine its ranking. Qualifying colleges were evaluated based on the:
- Published tuition and fees for in-state undergraduate students;
- Number of online programs offered for two year degrees or certificates;
- Student-to-faculty ratio;
- Percent of full-time and first-time undergraduate students receiving financial aid;
- Average amount of institutional aid received.
BPCC is so dedicated to providing online instruction to its students, the community, the state, and the nation that it will offer for the first time in its 49-year history a 4-week ONLINE ONLY Winter Session offering 35 online courses across all 6 academic divisions.
This new Winter Session will run from December 13 through January 5, 2017. Because this session will be online only, students can access courses from anywhere they choose. Registration is now available at www.bpcc.edu/admissions.
“Online learning continues to grow as a solution for students as they pursue their academic goals,” said Charley Cameron, dean of Educational Technology at BPCC. “All of the faculty and staff at BPCC understand this and strive to produce quality online products for our students.”
