BPCC opens baseball season with four-game split

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers split its first four games of the 2014 baseball season.

Eastfield College swept the Cavs in the season opening doubleheader Friday at BPCC, winning both halves 4-2.

The Cavs bounced back Saturday, sweeping Hill College 13-9 and 7-5 in Hillsboro, Texas.

Vaughn Shapen led BPCC in Game 1 against Eastfield with two hits. Former Airline star Dalton Gould had two hits, including a double, in Game 2.

Shapen had a home run and four RBIs in Game 1 against Hill. Matt Martin also had home run and three RBIs. Shapen went 4-for-5 in Game 2. Spencer Goodwin and Haden Hernandez had triples.
