Students at Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) will have the chance to win cash prizes and entry into the inaugural Air Show Innovation Showcase for pitching their business ideas, product, service or invention.

Students can now register for the BPCC 2-Minute Drill, presented by BRF’s Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program (EAP), BPCC, and the Barksdale Air Force Reserve’s 307th Bomb Wing, as a part of the Air Show Innovation Showcase event on Tuesday, May 14.

BPCC students will present their business ideas in a 2-minute elevator pitch to a panel of judges (Barksdale Air Force Base officials, BPCC, and EAP staff), who will be looking for these five topics to be covered: introduction; problem; solution; target customer; why their idea/solution is better than existing alternatives; and source of revenue. Registration begins Monday, April 15 and ends at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10.

“North Louisiana is a region full of opportunities for business owners, entrepreneurs, and innovators,” said Dave Smith, EAP Executive Director. “We have launched the BPCC 2-Minute Drill as a way to celebrate the student innovators in our community and help them find their next steps as young entrepreneurs.”

In the past two years, EAP has launched its Grand Prix university business plan competitions at the following institutions: LSU Shreveport, Northwestern State University, Grambling State University and Centenary College. The addition of the BPCC 2-Minute Drill is another push toward promoting innovation in North Louisiana through a wide range of university partnerships focused on helping young entrepreneurs succeed.

There will be one $500 student winner in the BPCC 2-Minute Drill. All participants will receive a red ticket which gains entry to the Air Show Innovation Showcase following the 2-Minute Drill, and all who register and participate will receive a $25 gift card to the BPCC bookstore. The BPCC 2-Minute Drill will be held at the BPCC campus, 6220 E. Texas St., Building H, on the 4thfloor, Tuesday, May 14, with pitch sessions at 9-11 a.m. and again at 1-3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
