Food Network Cake Champion Bronwen Weber and other prominent cake professionals to participate in fundraiser event
Quota Club of Shreveport’s Fifth Annual Icing on the Cake Competition will be held on Saturday, July 12 at Bossier Parish Community College, 6220 E. Texas Street, Bossier City, La. Cake artists from throughout the region will face-off in the competition, which also features a day-long program of cake decorating classes and demonstrations. The competition is open to the public for general viewing, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., in Building F on the BPCC campus.
Tickets are $5 for general admission or $20 for an all-access pass to all classes and demonstrations on July 12. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.quotacake.com and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the door. Lunches will be available to purchase and vendors will be on-hand selling a variety of creative tools and tasty treats.
Several well-known cake artists will bring their talent to the Icing on the Cake stage, including Food Network Cake Champion Bronwen Weber. In addition to the demonstrations offered on Saturday, July 12, a number of classes and demonstrations will be offered, July 11-14, for cake artists of all ages and experience levels. The theme for this year’s event is “The Glitz and Glamour of Broadway.” Registration has begun for bakers of all skill levels, from amateur to professional, in categories including wedding, theme, special occasions and a new category being introduced in 2014, “Red Carpet Worthy Red Velvet Cakes.” Registration for competing cake artists is open until the morning of the event; however, a late registration fee will be applied for all registrations received after Friday, June 27.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the following: Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) – Culinary Arts Program; Quota Club of Shreveport to help with service projects such as Deaf Action Center, Highland Haven – VOA, and Pine Grove Elementary.
