The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs posted the first conference victory in school history Saturday evening, defeating San Jacinto 92-80 at BPCC.

The Lady Cavs improved to 6-13 overall and 1-9 in Region XIV. San Jacinto dropped to 3-19 and 1-9.

Following the Lady Cavs’ win, the BPCC men’s team dropped an 84-66 decision to Trinity Valley, ranked No. 9 in NJCAA Division I.

Getting easy fast-break baskets off turnovers, the Lady Cavs had a seemingly comfortable 75-57 lead with about 10 minutes to play.

But BPCC went cold over the next four minutes and started turning the ball over. San Jacinto took advantage, slicing the Lady Cavs’ lead to seven points with 6:19 left.

BPCC got back on track with a basket inside and pulled away at the end.

Andreanna Jackson, a freshman from Rayville, scored 38 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Lady Cavs. La’Dencia Johnson added 17 and Elena Greely 14.

The BPCC men faced a Trinity Valley team that features five players 6-foot-8 or taller.

The Cavs trailed just 49-44 with about 11 minutes to play, but the Cardinals put the game away with an 18-2 run.

Wilbert Thomas led BPCC (4-18, 2-10) with 26 points. Ty’Rell Winn and former Bossier standout Lyndale James had 10 each.

Malcolm Riley led four Trinity Valley (21-2, 11-1) players in double figures with 20 points.
