Bossier Parish marked another step toward expanded high-speed internet access Wednesday, Oct. 14, as state and local leaders joined ConnectLA and Comcast to celebrate the completion of a broadband expansion project in the parish.

The celebration was held at Plain Dealing Town Hall and highlighted the project’s role in bringing reliable, high-speed internet service to more homes and businesses.

The expansion was funded through Louisiana’s Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities (GUMBO 1.0) program, which supports efforts to extend broadband service to communities that lack adequate access.

According to ConnectLA, thousands of homes and businesses now have access to high-speed internet through the expansion. The increased access is intended to create more opportunities for residents, families and businesses throughout the parish.

Reliable internet service has become increasingly important for education, healthcare, public safety and economic development. Expanded broadband access can help residents connect to online educational resources and healthcare services while allowing businesses to access digital tools and reach customers.

The Bossier Parish project is part of Louisiana’s broader effort to expand reliable and affordable high-speed internet access to communities across the state.

The event brought attention to the role of state and local partnerships in expanding broadband infrastructure and connecting more residents and businesses to essential online services.
