BSO: “Nearly 10 Fires in Two Days – Please be Careful”

A brush fire on Highway 528 that was apparently started by a fallen electrical line spread to at least 10 acres off of Highway 528 in east Bossier Parish Tuesday.

The roadway was closed for a few hours around noon as Bossier deputies and fire crews from East 80 Fire, Webster Parish Fire District 7 and La. Department of Agriculture and Forestry battled the fire to get it under control, along with SWEPCO crews who responded to the scene. No structures were damaged, and no livestock were injured.

Fire crews will continue to monitor the scene.

This fire is one of nearly 10 fires, mostly brush fires, that have ignited today and Monday. With our dry and windy conditions, any spark can easily spread into a fire. The parish is not under a burn ban, but Sheriff Whittington advises residents to use extreme caution during this time.
