BSO makes four arrests in weekend checkpoint

The Bossier Sheriff Office made four arrests and 10 citations during a sobriety checkpoint late Friday evening in the 5,600 block of Barksdale Boulevard.

Officers screened 400 vehicles, made four arrests and issued 10 citations for various offenses.  Bossier City Police Department and Louisiana State Police also assisted in the checkpoint, which began at 10 p.m. Friday and ended at 4 a.m. Saturday.

“Compliance with Louisiana driving laws is our ultimate goal in order to keep everyone safe on the road,” said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.

Motorists are also encouraged to report impaired drivers to law enforcement at any time.  The message is clear – “Drive sober or get pulled over.”

The sobriety checkpoint was conducted through a $14,040 grant awarded to the Bossier Sheriff’s Office from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for DWI Enforcement.
