The Bossier Sheriff’s Office dive crew recovered a submerged truck Wednesday morning from the bayou off of Highway 162 in Benton.

A motorist passing over the Twin Bridges about one mile east of Linton Bellevue Road in Benton called the Sheriff’s Office at 7 a.m. to report what appeared to be a white truck in the bayou with only a foot of the top showing. Patrol deputies responded to find the truck almost completely submerged, but no signs of any persons. Detectives and the dive crew determined that no one was in the truck nor in the surrounding water and soon began the recovery effort.

About that same time around 8:30 a.m., someone contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report a stolen truck. Bossier deputies determined the truck they were recovering from the water was that same stolen truck, a 2006 Ford F-250, which the owner said he last saw Tuesday night at his residence.

Detectives will continue their investigation and urge anyone who may know more about this stolen vehicle case to contact the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at 318-965-2203.
