Community leaders and advocates gathered at the Caddo Correctional Center Re-Entry Building to honor those who work tirelessly to protect the rights and lives of sexual assault victims.
The program featured remarks from Caddo District Attorney James Stewart, who also spoke on behalf of Bossier District Attorney Schuyler Marvin, as well as Caddo Coroner Tom Thoma and Chief Farris, representing Caddo Sheriff Henry Whitehorn. Jessica Miller of the Gingerbread House and Keisha Simmons, a mental health professional and sexual assault advocate, also addressed attendees.
Mayor Chandler emphasized the importance of raising awareness and providing support for survivors, stating that thanks to a dedicated team of professionals, sexual assault has been brought out of the shadows. He was joined by Leigh Ann Evensky, representing Mayor Arceneaux, to present a joint proclamation recognizing the month in honor of victims and those who support them.
The event highlighted the ongoing commitment of local organizations and leaders in ensuring that survivors receive the resources, protection, and justice they deserve.
