Bossier City and Parish leaders are keeping a watchful eye on Hurricane Harvey as the storm continues to strengthen off the Texas coast.
Bossier government leaders, emergency management, law enforcement, fire, EMS, levee board and public works representatives met this morning at the Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness to start preliminary preparations related to the potential weather impact that Harvey could have locally. The meeting included a briefing by the National Weather Service Office in Shreveport which indicated the possibility that Harvey could eventually head in a more easterly direction toward Louisiana in the coming days and could result in the potential for heavy rainfall here next week.
Residents are advised to stay tuned to local media for updates concerning the future path of the storm. Sandbag distribution sites have not been set up within the parish as of yet however sandbags may be offered to residents depending on what the forecast for Harvey holds in the coming days. Local media will be notified if, where and when those sites are established.
