SPRINGHILL/BOSSIER CITY – Funeral services for Mrs. Claudia Mae Howell Neal, age 82, will be held, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, LA with Rev. Todd Pickard officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin Tuesday at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Neal was born June 23, 1931 in Shongaloo, LA to Dennis Hoyte and Leslie Jordan Howell and passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 in Shreveport, LA. She had been a resident of Bossier City since 2000 and a former resident of Springhill. Mrs. Neal was of the Baptist faith, was a caregiver/setter and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Neal Lemke of Bossier City, LA, Shirley Faye Akery of Marietta, GA; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; brothers, Archie Howell of Mooringsport, LA, Donald Howell and wife, Ann of Caddo Lake, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Neal in 1999; son, Alvin Dwain Neal in 2013; five brothers and four sisters.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Bryant Walker, Steven Walker, Dwain Neal, Lee Skinner, Jeff Rivers and Greg Akery. Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Duck and Nicholas Stanfield.
