“CLICK IT OR TICKET” THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND

The Bossier City Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across Louisiana and the nation in taking part in the seatbelt enforcement campaign “Click It or Ticket” just in time for the busy Memorial Day travel weekend.

That means Bossier City police officers will be stepping up seatbelt and child safety restraint enforcement in an effort to increase vehicle safety restraint usage and to save lives.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seat belts saved an estimated 12,584 people in the nation from dying in 2013 and an estimated 263 lives of children under the age of 4 were saved by the use of child restraints.

While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the odds of dying in a crash and reduce the extent of injury.

“Click It or Ticket” runs through June 5. The Bossier City Police Department’s participation is funded with federal grant money distributed through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
