Risen Rock Climbing Gym in Bossier City, Louisiana, is proud to host the Junior Competitive Climbing Association (JCCA) Qualifying Event competition Saturday.
The gym will be closed to public climbing from 10 am to 2 p.m. for the competition, but spectators are welcome and encouraged to come cheer on the climbing competitors.
“It’s so exciting to be able to host two major climbing events in Bossier City within weeks of one another,” said Kelly Phillips, Risen Rock’s Executive Director of Operations. “It shows how fast the sport is growing in our area, especially with young climbers!”
Registration for any climbers 18 and under is open until Friday at midnight on Eventbrite.
The competition format will present climbers with six boulder problems. They will have eight attempts per boulder. Climbers will have 2.5 hours to climb the boulders in their category.
Competitor groups will be broken down by age. Check-in will be at 10:15 am.
The JCCA is dedicated to exposing recreational climbing to children of all ages and levels of experience. Winners of this weekend’s Qualifying Event at Risen Rock Climbing Gym will go on to compete at the JCCA Bouldering Championship 2022 in Carrollton, TX, May 14.
