NATCHITOCHES – A busy weekend of Northwestern State athletics tips off Thursday night and continues throughout Sunday afternoon.

Homecoming weekend for the Demons begins with the Demon Madness basketball tipoff event, set for 5 p.m. Thursday inside Prather Coliseum. The event includes autograph sessions with both Northwestern basketball teams, a slam dunk contest, a 3-point shootout, scrimmages and a special appearance from Northwestern State President James T. Genovese.

At 12 p.m. Friday, four individuals with ties to NSU athletics – the late Jack Brittain Jr., Doug Ireland, Dr. Chris Maggio and Robert “Skeeter” Salim — will be inducted into the university’s Long Purple Line.

The Northwestern soccer team, which remains in the thick of the Southland Conference championship race, hosts Lamar at 7 p.m. Friday, following the Homecoming parade, which begins at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday’s schedule starts early with the 15-member N-Club Hall of Fame class being inducted at 8:30 a.m. in a ceremony inside A.A. Fredericks Fine Arts Center. Doors for the ceremony open at 8 a.m.

Kickoff for the annual Homecoming football game is set for 2 p.m. as the Demons host Southland Conference rival Lamar.

The busiest athletic weekend of the fall semester concludes with soccer hosting UTRGV for the first time in program history at 1 p.m.
