College baseball: BPCC Cavs split four games

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers split four baseball games last week.

The Cavs split a non-conference doubleheader against Kellogg College on March 3, losing the first game 3-1 and winning the second 7-1.

Saturday, they split a Region XIV doubleheader against Panola College. The Cavs lost the first game 4-3 and won the second 4-1.

Five BPCC pitchers combined on a four-hitter in the victory over Kellogg, including former Airline standout Landon Lewis.

Justin Norris went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple. Hunter Wilcher had a solo home run and Matt Hammock had a double. Eric Goree had two RBI.

BPCC managed just two hits in the loss, including a double by Robert Herrera. Spencer McGuire got the loss despite just giving up four hits in five innings.

Doc Wilkerson allowed just four hits and struck out six in 7 2/3 innings in the victory over Panola. Francisco Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Brooks Robbey also had two hits. Wilcher had a double.

Wilcher’s three-run homer was one of three hits the Cavs had in the loss.

BPCC (8-12-1) hosts Northeast Texas Community College at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The teams face off again in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
